This fall was a terrific time for Temp Homestay, with 43 international students finding hosts in Madison. The students were from around the globe including: Australia, Brazil, China, Columbia, Egypt, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam.
Our volunteer hosts had a great time showing off our amazing city as well as the UW campus. For most students, this was their first time in the U.S., and they were very grateful to have someone meet them at the bus station or airport and be welcomed into a home on their first night here. Many make lifelong friends and
stay in touch over the years.
Students often write to us saying, “I would like to sincerely thank you and MFIS for introducing me such a kind and caring family.”
Hosts have passed along great news such as “A large envelope from France arrived in the mailbox yesterday. It contained pictures of the 6-month old daughter of a MFIS temporary homestay student I hosted three years ago. What a delight, and yet one more reason to be thankful for relationships that are established through the homestay program.”
